Dr. Jared Long

Dr. Jared Long received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Manitoba in 1999 followed by a Doctor of Optometry from the University of Waterloo (UW) in 2003. During Dr Long’s final year of study, he participated in clinical externships with fellow Optometrists in Calgary and an Ophthalmologist that specialized in glaucoma and cataract management in Vancouver. Dr Long has been practising Optometry in Airdrie and Innisfail since graduation. He has combined his passion for eyecare with his commitment to community by regularly volunteering for eyecare missions to help those in need. His first trip occurred in 2002 to Puerto Escondido, Mexico 2002 with I Care International before completing his degree at UW. In 2008 Dr Long traveled to Jamaica with Canadian Vision Care to provide much needed Eyecare in Lucea and Montego Bay. In 2010 he returned to Jamaica to the southeast communities in St. Thomas and St. Catherine Parish to provide eye exams with four other optometrists.

Dr Long grew up on a grain farm in the Parklands of central Manitoba. Outside the office he is typically found skiing, hiking, mountain biking, and camping in the near by Rockies Mountains.
